About

Hello!

I'm Jen, a jewellery designer based in the North East of Scotland.

This blog is a place for me to show what's new with my jewellery as well as sharing my inspiration, interests and influences.

About Me
I like colours (especially purple and teal). I'm told I am snap happy as I nearly always have a camera with me and love photos. I love tea and have a cupboard devoted to it. At the moment I am mostly drinking african rooibos with vanilla, jasmine and sencha. I can't resist a pretty cake and love to bake for my friends. I love to travel and experience different cultures. I like sculpture, textiles, films, modern architecture, dark chocolate, snow, blue skies, mountains and the combination of mango and coconut (sometimes with lime).

I am slightly obsessed with anything Japan related: Kimonos, Handcrafted papers (Washi and Chiyogami), Origami, Green Tea (Matcha and Sencha), Sushi, Udon noodles, Katsu curry, Wagashi, Woodblock prints, Sakura flowers, Maple leaves, Ginkgo trees, Geisha, Kokeshi dolls. The list could go on but i'd be here all day!

About my Jewellery
All my jewellery is completely handcrafted by me in my little workshop. I love working in silver and add a little colour with semi-precious stones. My work is also characterised by textured surfaces. I mostly work with the lost wax casting technique to achieve the intricate details found in my jewellery.

My recent collections have been influenced by sealife structures and the intricate patterns of lace. To view examples from my latest collections: Dots, Cuttlefish and Lace view the pages at the top of this blog.

Previous collections have included my Washi Collection incorporating Japanese patterned papers with resin and silver; my Blossom Collection inspired by the Spring fruit tree blooms of the Sakura (Cherry Blossom) and Ume (Plum Blossom); and  Textures Collection based around pressing textures into sheet silver.

All my work is created in silver and should be kept away from hairspray and perfumes to avoid tarnish. It can be cleaned using a silver polishing cloth.
